| A guy at work is in the market for a 5 SPD YJ tranny. His is a 1987, I don't know if they changed the trannies thru the years or not. He currently has the factory 5 spd in it and it's all buggered up. ANybody got anything? | |

| His has the pugoet ba/10, its junk tranny on a good day, he can upgrade to the nv4500 with some parts from advance adapters, or a ax 5 or 15 (can't remember which was behind the 4.0 but thats the one he wants) buy getting the tranny, transfer, pressure plate and some other parts from a newer wrangler.
sorry I don't have anything to help tho. | |

| He is just going to want a straight replacement. He's not mechanic-savvy and he's not into fourwheeling. Thanks for the info tho James! | |

| I believe the AX-15 is a direct bolt in. My old man had one of them pugoet ba/10 transmissions in an 89 wrangler, JUNK. You can get a reman for an arm and a leg with no warranty that's how good they are. | |

| The ax 15 is a much better tranny. They changed over to them in either 89 or 90. I believe they have diferent output shafts so you will need the transfer from the donor vehicle. Cherokee's also use the ax15. Thats what i've got in mine. If he puts the ax15 in, He'll never have to worry about the tranny again. Be sure to get a transfer case shifter out of a wrangler with the ax15. If he desides to just replace with the same, He should be able to pick one up cheap if he can find one thats not broke. I would strongly recomend the ax15. | |

| Ok, so if he can get the tranny and transfer, it will be a bolt in swap? No bellhousing adapters, no new crossmembers/tranny mounts, etc? | |
